Georgette M. Richards, principal of St. Edward-Epiphany Catholic School, recently announced that she will retire this July. We invite you to honor Ms. Richards and her 29 years of service to the School as a founding donor to The Georgette M. Richards Scholarship, which will gift a partial tuition scholarship to a rising St. Edward-Epiphany eighth grader each year.
On May 26-27 we will be holding our 6th Annual Parish Baby Shower. Mark your calendars! St. Edward Knights of Columbus Council 6546 and St. Edward Justice and Peace Ministry invite all parishioners to attend our 6th Annual Parish Baby Shower to join us for FREE cake, FREE punch, and FREE balloons. We will be collecting new items for Bethany Christian Services, a Christ-centered, pro- life, adoption and family services agency in Richmond.
The Museum of Virginia Catholic History seeks summer and special event volunteers and tour guides to welcome visitors and give tours of our Cathedral and museum exhibits. Summer volunteers open the exhibits to the public on Sunday mornings from June-September, 10:00am-1:30pm. Summer volunteers commit to one Sunday “shift” per month.
Clean your closets and garage -- it’s time for our Annual St. Edward Great Big Yard Sale!
Join us June 23rd from 8:00am to 2:30pm in the Community Center. Purchase your own table for $35 or donate items for the St. Edward tables. We’ll have great bargains, crafts, raffles, food, and fun! Proceeds to benefit our outreach programs for the poor and the physically/mentally challenged. Please bring clean, usable donated items and/or your own wares for your table on setup day. Kevin Hogan, a long time parishioner of St. Edward, has been in formation with the Richmond Diocese for the Permanent Diaconate since the fall of 2007. He is in a class with 39 men diocese wide who have answered a call from God to this ministry. Kevin’s formation includes the Rite of Acolyte which was conferred by Bishop DiLorenzo on April 20.
Kevin will begin functioning as an Acolyte during weekend Liturgy this month and he will continue to serve in that role until his ordination. The Acolyte duties include many of the functions currently performed by altar ministers. Please keep Kevin and his wife, Adria, in your prayers as he completes his formation program.
Have you given any thought to teaching Religious Education during the summer or on Sundays during the school year? Help is needed in all grades and all programs. Worried you don’t know enough? Catechist manuals give you the lessons and plans. We provide training. With the Holy Spirit behind you, anything is possible! Prayerfully consider helping in your child’s classroom next year.
